Are you looking to homestay and live rent free in beautiful Burleigh Heads, Queensland? Burleigh Heads is a suburb in the City of Gold Coast known for its restaurants and cafes.
Our client this time is a fabulous 16 year old girl, who loves music, reading, being in nature and swimming in pools. She particularly enjoys picture books and her favourite TV show is The Greatest Showman. Miss J enjoys the company of mentors who are looking out for her. She lives close to Burleigh Beach and is happy picnicing on the headland or walking to the local shops. Miss J, who has level 3 autism, is non-verbal and therefore relies on the close bond she forms with her carers as the carer needs to understand her body language. Her rituals and routines are very important to her.
Miss J is affectionate and content for the majority of the time. She currently attends a Special School 5 days per week, and lives with her parents.
She has the daily support of her parents as well as other paid support workers. The carer we are looking for is someone who has experience working with children with autism.
The carer would need to know how to deal with occassional behavioural challenges and toileting mishaps.
This position would ideally suit someone who has an interest in psychology, social work, medicine or mental health. The accommodation includes own room with shared bathroom.
The home is within walking distance to the beach, nature trails, shops, restaurants, cafes & bars.
Care is required in the afternoons from 2pm to 6pm (Mon – Fri) and 5pm to 10pm (Sat). Hours / days are flexible. Activitiess include: school pickup, social activity, preparation of dinner, shower and watching TV together.
